This course will provide students with an introduction to the theoretical and creative principles used in sound for motion picture, television, and other visual entertainment media. This course will provide students with an overview of fundamental financial management and accounting practices. Students will be provided with an overview of basic economic theories and practices, as well as important personal financial management practices. Students will then explore fundamental accounting principles and practices, including forms of business organization and business transactions, balance sheets, journals, financial statements, and the accounting cycle. This course will provide audio production and engineering focused students with a broad introduction to the role of music in film and television through the study of terminology, aesthetics, process, equipment, and the technical aspects used in film scoring including, sessions setups, composition and editing techniques, and mixing considerations as well as the roles of the music editor, the composer, the recording engineer on the scoring stage, the mix engineer and the re-recording engineer. During this course, students will explore various composers and scores through ‘case studies’ and analysis and begin to apply these concepts through various practical assignments.
